I received quotes from several other companies, but Solar Save really stood out for their honesty, communication, and customer service.

Spoke to about 5 companies all singing from the same hymn sheet. Landed with solar save. Seemed like the only ones that genuinely knew what they were talking about.

Most of our customers spoke to a few solar companies first. These are the three things they mention most.

Not once did James try and force us in to making a decision.
Scaffolding goes up, then our approved roofers and electricians fit and switch on your solar panels, most often in a single day. They tidy up as they go.

They all cleaned up after themselves and left my property as it was found.
We show you the app, explain how to apply for an export tariff, and you can ring our office with any question.

We install two main systems: Fox ESS, our entry-level system, and EcoFlow, our premium one. Each starts with a free consultation and a written quote.
Entry-level system
from £7,500 fully installed
Premium system
It costs more than the Fox ESS system. Ask about both and we'll price them side by side, so you can compare.
Ask for an EcoFlow quoteThe from price is for 10 panels and a Fox ESS battery, with scaffolding to one side of your home. If your home needs more scaffolding, or a bigger system, your written quote shows the full price before you agree to anything, with no hidden fees.
Domestic solar PV systems for homes within 100 miles of Doncaster, solar battery storage systems for new and existing panels, and commercial solar for local businesses.

A system designed around your roof and how your household uses electricity, with a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty on the panels.

Keep the electricity your panels make for the evening, or charge the battery overnight on a cheaper tariff. We can add one to an existing system.
The whole process usually takes two to three weeks, with your solar panels fitted in a single day once the scaffolding is up. Bigger systems that need network approval can take longer.
By phone or at your home. Tell us how you use electricity and what you'd like from solar. No obligation.
We design your system and send a written quote with the full price and no hidden fees, then talk you through it.
Once you've signed, an independent technical surveyor checks where your panels and cables will go. It's included in your price.
Our office orders your kit and books your date. Systems over 3.68 kW need the network operator's consent first: we apply while your survey is booked, and it can take from a couple of days to 90.
Scaffold up, panels on, system wired in and switched on. Most homes are done in a day.
We notify your electricity network, email your handover pack within 7 working days, and stay on hand afterwards.

On a suitable roof, usually yes: in 9 to 12 years, and solar panels should last 25 years or more. The figures are independent, from Which?, MoneySavingExpert and the Energy Saving Trust.
Solar panels are made of photovoltaic cells, which generate electricity from daylight, so they still work on cloudy days, just less. You save money by using your own electricity instead of buying it, and the Smart Export Guarantee pays you for what you send to the grid.
Your own payback depends on your roof and when you use electricity. At your free consultation, we'll explain what solar panels could save on your bills.

The questions people ask us most, answered straight.
Our full solar and battery system starts from £7,500, fully installed, with a Fox ESS battery and scaffolding to one side of your home included. Our premium EcoFlow system costs more. The Energy Saving Trust puts the average home solar PV system, about 4.5 kWp and without a battery, at around £7,600 to install. Your price depends on your roof, how many panels fit, your energy needs and which battery you choose, and comes in a written quote after a free consultation, with no hidden fees.
No. We take a 0% deposit, so there's nothing to pay when you sign. If you're comparing installers, the Renewable Energy Consumer Code advises paying no more than 25% as a deposit.
On a suitable roof, usually yes. The Energy Saving Trust estimates payback at about 9 to 11 years in London and Manchester, including export payments, and panels should last 25 years or more. It also estimates they cut a home's carbon footprint by around one tonne a year.
Yes. You save money by using your own solar power in daylight instead of buying it from your electricity supplier, and you're paid for what you export. Quoting the Energy Saving Trust, MoneySavingExpert puts the bill saving from a typical 4.5 kWp solar panel system at £190 to £330 a year, before export payments.
Yes. Electricity you don't use goes to the grid, and under the Smart Export Guarantee, energy suppliers pay you for it. Your export tariff doesn't have to be with the supplier you buy from, though the best rates are often for their own customers. You need an MCS certified installation, like ours.
The upfront cost, and the fact that panels make least in winter and nothing after dark, when many homes use the most electricity. The inverter usually needs replacing after about 12 years, according to the Energy Saving Trust. A battery helps with the evenings, and you're paid for what you export.
Yes, though they make less. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight rather than direct sun. Output is lowest in winter, when the days are shorter and the light is weaker.
It depends on your roof size and how much electricity you use. As a rough guide, the Energy Saving Trust suggests about 4 panels for a mid-terrace, 8 for a semi and 12 to 16 for a detached house. If you're planning an electric vehicle or a heat pump, tell us, as either will raise your use.
Usually not. Installing solar panels on most houses in England is permitted development, so there's nothing to apply for from your local council. Listed buildings and some conservation areas are different, and we'll check this before we quote.
Most homes have their solar panels installed in one day once the scaffolding is up. From first call to switch-on, the whole process usually takes two to three weeks. Bigger systems that need network approval can take longer.
No. We'll explain your solar options, answer your questions and leave you a quote to think over. Plenty of our customers got several quotes before choosing us.
No, but a solar battery helps you use more of your own electricity. It stores surplus energy from the day for the evening, or charges on a cheaper overnight tariff. You can add battery storage now or later, and we'll price both if you'd like to compare.
Usually, yes, even if another company fitted them. We ask about your current setup before we quote.
Start with the MCS website's Find an Installer search, which lists certified solar panel installers by location. MCS, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, is the quality mark for small-scale renewable energy, and you need an MCS certified installation for export payments. Check the company belongs to a consumer code such as RECC, the Renewable Energy Consumer Code, read independent reviews, and get written quotes from more than one company. Don't pay a deposit of more than 25% when you sign, as RECC advises. We take no deposit at all. We're MCS certified, RECC and NAPIT members, and based in Retford.
If you live within 100 miles of Doncaster, yes. We're based in Retford, about 16 miles from Doncaster, and install from Worksop, Sheffield and Chesterfield to Nottingham, Derby, Hull and Sunderland. See the full list on our areas page, or ring the office and ask.
