Leicester is about 48 miles south of our Retford office, and like us it's in the East Midlands. We install solar panels and batteries for homeowners across the city.
Every job starts with a free consultation about your roof and how you use electricity, so the system is sized for your home rather than taken off the shelf. Whether you live in a terrace near the centre or a semi on the edge of the city, we work out how many panels fit, which slope suits them and whether anything shades the roof. Then you get a written quote with the full price. If you run a business, we also fit commercial solar panels, with the same free consultation and written quote.
Semis and terraces make up most of Leicester's homes: in the 2021 Census, 36% of the city's households lived in a semi-detached house and 29% in a terraced one, and 23% lived in a flat or other building.

Leicester City Council's Warm Homes: Local Grant is meant to cut energy bills for lower-income households, and it can pay for solar panels for privately owned homes with an EPC of D to G and household income of £36,000 or less. When we checked in October 2026, it was closed to new applications because this year's funding had been allocated, and the council says it may reopen in 2028, subject to funding.
Prices, payback and export payments are much the same across England, so rather than repeat them on every area page, we've written them up once:
We're about 48 miles away in Retford. Being further from our office doesn't change how we work.
We start with a free consultation, by phone or at your home in Leicester, then send a written quote with the full price.
If you go ahead, an independent technical surveyor checks the details, then most homes are fitted in a day, and we notify the network operator and send your handover pack afterwards.
What happens on installation day, step by step.
For most houses in Leicester, rooftop solar panels are permitted development, so you won't need planning permission. The exceptions are listed buildings and Leicester City Council's 25 conservation areas, which include New Walk, Stoneygate, South Highfields, Knighton and Evington village. Some of these have Article 4 directions with extra planning controls, so we check your address against the council's maps before we design anything.
The national rules changed on 27 August 2026: planning permission for solar panels has the current limits.
National Grid Electricity Distribution runs the local electricity network. Most home systems only need notifying after they're switched on; bigger ones need approval first. We handle both.

Spoke to about 5 companies all singing from the same hymn sheet. Landed with solar save. Seemed like the only ones that genuinely knew what they were talking about.

The scaffolding went up Monday, the system was installed and commissioned Wednesday…

Yes. We're based in Retford, about 48 miles away, and install solar panels and batteries for homeowners across Leicester.
Leicester City Council's Warm Homes: Local Grant can pay for solar panels for eligible lower-income homes. When we checked in October 2026 it was closed to new applications, and the council says it may reopen in 2028, subject to funding.
Usually not for a house. Listed buildings need consent, and some installations in conservation areas need permission or prior approval. Leicester City Council handles planning for most of Leicester, and we check the position for your address before we quote.
Figures and rules on this page were checked on 11 October 2026. Schemes, tariffs and prices change, so check the latest before you decide.
