Worksop is about 8 miles west of our Retford office, the closest town we cover after Retford itself. Home visits and installs here are a short drive for our team.
Worksop and Retford are both in Bassetlaw, in north Nottinghamshire, so planning questions go to the same council whichever side of the district you live in. Bassetlaw borders South Yorkshire, and we cover both sides of the border, from Worksop up to Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. At your consultation we work out how many panels your roof can take, and whether a battery would earn its keep.
Bassetlaw homes2021 Census
In the 2021 Census, 76.5% of households in Bassetlaw lived in a detached house or a semi, compared with 54.4% across England, and only 15.8% lived in a terrace.
Worksop households on lower incomes may qualify for the government's Warm Homes: Local Grant, which Bassetlaw District Council delivers with funding from the Midlands Net Zero Hub. For homes rated EPC D to G, the council's page lists solar PV among the improvements, although insulation is prioritised and there's a long waiting list. You apply through Nottingham Energy Partnership.
Prices, payback and export payments are much the same across England, so rather than repeat them on every area page, we've written them up once:
What solar panels cost, by system size, and how to compare quotes
Whether solar panels are worth it, with payback figures
Solar panel grants and who qualifies
Battery storage, including adding a battery to existing panels
We're about 8 miles away in Retford. It's a short drive for our team. We start with a free consultation, by phone or at your home in Worksop, then send a written quote with the full price. If you go ahead, an independent technical surveyor checks the details, then most homes are fitted in a day, and we notify the network operator and send your handover pack afterwards.
What happens on installation day, step by step.
Bassetlaw District Council: the same council as Retford
Most Worksop houses can have rooftop panels without planning permission. Bassetlaw District Council has four conservation areas in the town: Worksop, Mr Straw's, Old Gateford and Sunnyside. If your home is in one of them or is listed, different rules apply, and we check this before we quote.
The national rules changed on 27 August 2026: planning permission for solar panels has the current limits.

Not once did James try and force us in to making a decision.
Yes. We're based in Retford, about 8 miles away, and install solar panels and batteries for homeowners across Worksop.
For some households, yes. Bassetlaw District Council delivers the Warm Homes: Local Grant, and its page lists solar PV for eligible lower-income homes rated EPC D to G. Insulation is prioritised and the waiting list is long, so register early with Nottingham Energy Partnership.
Usually not for a house. Listed buildings need consent, and some installations in conservation areas need permission or prior approval. Bassetlaw District Council handles planning for most of Worksop, and we check the position for your address before we quote.
