Stoke-on-Trent is about 56 miles south-west of our Retford office. We install solar panels and batteries for homeowners across the six towns, and every quote is based on your roof and how your household uses electricity.
Whether your home is in Hanley, Burslem or any of the other towns, your quote shows how many panels fit and whether storing some of their output in a battery makes sense for you.
Stoke is a city of houses: in the 2021 Census, nearly 9 in 10 households lived in a house rather than a flat. Semis are the most common, at 46% of households, followed by terraces at 28%.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council runs a Warm Homes: Local Grant with the Midlands Net Zero Hub, and solar panels are one of the measures on offer for eligible homes.
When we checked in October 2026, the council had used its funding for April 2026 to March 2027 and wasn't progressing new applications, but you could still register interest for later rounds through Community Home Solutions.
The scheme runs until March 2028.
Prices, payback and export payments are much the same across England, so rather than repeat them on every area page, we've written them up once:
What solar panels cost, by system size, and how to compare quotes
Whether solar panels are worth it, with payback figures
Solar panel grants and who qualifies
Battery storage, including adding a battery to existing panels
We're about 56 miles away in Retford. Being further from our office doesn't change how we work. We start with a free consultation, by phone or at your home in Stoke-on-Trent, then send a written quote with the full price. If you go ahead, an independent technical surveyor checks the details, then most homes are fitted in a day, and we notify the network operator and send your handover pack afterwards.
What happens on installation day, step by step. Most houses in Stoke-on-Trent don't need planning permission for roof panels. The exceptions are listed buildings and the city's 22 conservation areas, which since 2024 include Winton Square in Stoke and Albert Square in Fenton. Stoke-on-Trent City Council handles planning, and we check your address before we quote.
Where permission can be needed
National Grid Electricity Distribution runs the local electricity network. Most home systems only need notifying after they're switched on; bigger ones need approval first. We handle both.
The national rules changed on 27 August 2026: planning permission for solar panels has the current limits.

Usually not for a house. Listed buildings need consent, and some installations in conservation areas need permission or prior approval. Stoke-on-Trent City Council handles planning for most of Stoke-on-Trent, and we check the position for your address before we quote.
