Liverpool City Council has £5.8 million of Warm Homes: Local Grant funding to improve about 450 homes over three years, and solar PV and batteries are among the measures it may offer. When we checked in October 2026, year two (to 31 March 2027) was full and the council was taking registrations of interest for year three, which starts on 1 April 2027, through GOV.UK.

What happens on installation day, step by step. Most houses in Liverpool don't need planning permission for roof panels. The exceptions are listed buildings and the city's 36 conservation areas, which cover 9% of the city and about 19,000 properties, from Sefton Park, Rodney Street and Canning Street to Wavertree Village, Woolton Village and West Derby. Some have Article 4 directions that add extra controls. Liverpool City Council handles planning, and we check your address before we quote.
The national rules changed on 27 August 2026: planning permission for solar panels has the current limits.
SP Energy Networks runs the local electricity network. Most home systems only need notifying after they're switched on; bigger ones need approval first. We handle both.
